Kendrick Lamar disses Drake and J Cole on new song: Listen

Kendrick Lamar has released a diss song taking aim at his colleagues, Drake, and J Cole.

Lamar’s presence was notable on the track Like That, a standout from Future and Metro Boomin’s latest joint effort, the ‘We Don’t Trust You’ album.

Rapper Future and producer Metro Boomin officially dropped their collaborative album ‘We Don’t Trust You’ on Friday, March 22nd, 2024. The project boasts collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, and Rick Ross.

However, it’s Lamar’s verse that’s making waves, as he directly fires back at J Cole’s lines on “First Person Shooter” from Drake’s 2023 album For All The Dogs.

On that song, Cole rapped: “Love when they argue the hardest MC / Is it K-Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me? / We the big three like we started a league, but right now, I feel like Muhammad Ali.”

“Yeah, get up with me, f– sneak dissing/ ‘First Person Shooter’/ I hope they came with three switches,” Lamar rapped; glock switches are gun attachments that illegally modify rifles or handguns to shoot like machine guns.

Lamar continues, adding “think I won’t drop the location/ I still got PTSD, motherf– the big three, it’s just big me,” which may be in reference to a line on “First Person Shooter” in which Cole refers to Lamar, Drake and himself as the “big three” of rap.

He then took a direct shot at Drake by alluding to the Canadian rapper’s latest album “For All The Dogs” with the line “‘fore all your dogs gettin’ buried/ that’s a K with all these nines, he gon’ see ‘Pet Sematary.’”

This isn’t Lamar’s first time courting controversy. Back in 2013, his verse on Big Sean’s “Control” caused a stir, where he called out fellow rappers, asserting his competitive spirit and determination to surpass them.

While Lamar’s verse on “Like That” was certainly the most newsworthy moment from the album, Future and Metro Boomin’s long-awaited collaborative project “We Don’t Trust You” arrived on Friday, marking the first of two releases from the pair. The second, which is currently untitled, will be released on April 12.
