The final words of a death row inmate, who became the third person in the US to be executed using nitrogen gas, have been revealed.
Carey Dale Grayson, 49, was executed on Thursday, November 21, for his role in the brutal 1994 murder of 37-year-old Vickie DeBlieux in Alabama.
Grayson, along with three other teenagers, was convicted of the horrifying crime. DeBlieux was traveling through Alabama when she was picked up by the group.
After stopping in a remote area, they violently attacked her, ultimately strangling her to death before mutilating her body and discarding it from a cliff.

Grayson was the only one of the four convicted teens to be executed, as the others had their death sentences reversed after the US Supreme Court banned executions for those who were under 18 at the time of the crime.
DeBlieux’s daughter, Jodi Haley, who was just 12 when her mother was murdered, spoke to reporters after the execution. Haley said her mother’s life had been stolen, calling her a unique and vibrant person.
She also acknowledged Grayson’s troubled upbringing, stating that society failed him as a child. However, she condemned the practice of executing inmates, calling it “murder under the guise of justice.”
Grayson’s execution was carried out at the William C. Holman Correctional Facility in southern Alabama. His final words, however, were shocking and obscene.
As he raised both middle fingers to Warden Terry Raybon, he said, “For you, you need to f*** off.”
When Grayson began addressing the witness room, his microphone was quickly turned off.
The execution by nitrogen gas lasted around 15 minutes, with Grayson’s heart stopping approximately 10 minutes into the procedure.
