Multiple award-winning Ghanaian highlife musician, Kuami Eugene speaks for the first time on recording a campaign song for a political party.
December is fast approaching as we all prepare to cast our votes for to elect the next a president to rule Ghana for the nect four years, and the date slated for the voting exercise is 7th December 2020.
Lynx Entertainment signee and the reigning VGMA 2020 artiste of tge year, Kuami has opened up as to whether he will love to composed a campaign song for a political party ahead of the upcoming general elections.
Speaking on Kastle FM, a cape coast based radio station, the singer told the host, “Amansan Krakye”, he is focusing on his works and not ready to do a campaign song for any political party.
According to him, hd said that because he is trying to stay in his lane which is to do his music abd maje sure it sells, and leave the politics to those who are doing it since that isn’t his Field.
“No I won’t drop any campaign song for Nana Akufo-Addo. I’m concentrating on my job for now so Nana Addo should also work hard for the upcoming election, i believe everyone should be in their lane so I don’t feel i must leave what I’m doing to join what someone else is doing” – he said.
The Wa Ye Wie crooner stated that the only way he would do a campaign song will be if it is requested, he will gladly opt in if the presidential candidate of a political party requests him to compose a song for him.
Answering to the question, if he will do a campaign song for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) should the president request it, he responded saying yes.
This was what Kuami said: “Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is my president so if he should invite me and request that I do a campaign song for him why not I will gladly oblige to do so.”
