American rapper, Lil Wayne, has finally responded to Billboard’s controversial “50 Greatest Rappers Of All Time” (Best Rapper Of All Time) list, which included him.

Billboard, an American music and entertainment magazine published weekly by Penske Media Corporation (a magazine that provides music charts, news, video, opinion, reviews, events, and styles related to the music industry) released its new list ranking the best rappers of all time on Wednesday (February 8th, 2023).

Billboard released its Top 50 Greatest Rappers Of All Times (GOAT) on Wednesday in honour of hip-hop’s 50th anniversary. Following the release of the list, it has sparked a lot of controversies with many in the industry disagreeing with the list, as some claim the list is and will remain unacceptable.

In the List, Rapper Lil Wayne was ranked 7th position out of 50 which makes him fall in the first 10 Greatest rappers of all time category.

The List was topped by American rapper and business mogul Jay-Z followed by  Kendrick Lamar,  Nas, 2pac,  Eminem, and Biggie Smalls, before Wizzycame at number seven (7) and was also followed by Drake, Snoop Dog, with Nicki Minaj on the 10th position being the only female making it to the first 10.

Lil Wayne Reacts To Greatest Rapper Of All Time Rank

The Young Money mogul in a recent interview with Zane Lowe at Apple Music while discussing about his forthcoming ‘The Carter 6’ album reacted to the ranking and how he feels knowing everyone now knows he it really amongst the G.O.A.T. when it comes to rappers.

Despite proclaiming himself No. 1, Wayne recently confirmed that, in his book, Hov remains the greatest rapper ever.

“The greatest rapper of all time is Shawn ‘JAY-Z’ Carter,” he declared on a November episode of Marcellus Wiley’s More to It podcast. “When you do this rapping thing, obviously like football, every sport is different. You play hockey, I’m sure they got something that they only know about. Something that they probably can’t explain, but only they know. That thing in rap, that we only know in rap, he has that. He’s the Tom Brady of that.”

“Man, who the hell is before me?” Wayne questioned. “Was the list including ALL Hip Hop, like before and after as well? I can deal with that… I will tell you that I am a muthafuckin’ one. Everybody whose names you named, they also know I’m number one. Go ask ’em. They know what it is.”

Lil Wayne released the “Kant Nobody” single featuring DMX this week. The Young Money Entertainment record label founder is preparing to drop Tha Carter 6 project. The sixth installment in the legendary album series will be Wayne’s first studio LP since 2020’s Funeral.
