Popular South African singer, Lira has been hit with a stroke while traveling in Germany.

The news has been confirmed by her family as well as her management team in a statement released on Tuesday, where they included that the stroke has also affected her ability to speak.

According to the statement sighted online, the South African Music Awards (SAMA) winner who is born with her legal name as is currently back to her home country, South Africa where she is undergoing medical treatment with the best medical team.

according to the statement, her impacted ability to communicate, in particular, her speech will take some time to recover meaning it will require patience and that she might not be able to perform in the short term.

Fans and friends, as well as well wishers took to the comment session of her posts to wish her well as the family made it known that they will be in great need of their prayers.

“To Lira’s beloved fans, clients and associates:

“As Lira’s family, we would like to take this opportunity to share some recent developments regarding Lira’s health. Lira recently travelled to Germany for a performance but unfortunately suffered a stroke whilst there. As a result, her ability to communicate, in particular, her speech, has been impacted.

“She is currently undergoing treatment here in South Africa, led by the best medical team available. Her medical team has advised that her journey to recovery will require patience and therefore, it is unlikely that she will be able to perform in the short term. That said, Lira is in good spirits and is surrounded by her loving family and close friends as she journeys towards a full recovery.

“We thank you all in advance for your prayers, support, kindness and utmost sensitivity and consideration during this very challenging time in her life.
