Man Arrested Over Viral TikTok Videos of Women Filmed Without Their Consent

A 27-year-old man from Bradford has been arrested and charged after viral TikTok videos surfaced showing women filmed without their consent on nights out in Manchester.

The man was taken into custody on suspicion of stalking and harassment, with Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirming the arrest early Wednesday morning.

The police launched an investigation following reports that several women had been followed, filmed, and harassed while out in Manchester’s city center.

The disturbing footage, some of which allegedly involved upskirting and non-consensual nudity, quickly gained millions of views across social media platforms, including TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram.

Many of the videos were accompanied by misogynistic comments, sparking outrage across the public.

GMP confirmed that this arrest is believed to be the first of its kind in the UK related to social media videos showing women in vulnerable situations.

The footage, primarily filmed around the Peter Street and Deansgate areas, prompted many women to come forward, expressing the fear and distress the videos caused them.

Chief Inspector Stephen Wiggins emphasized the seriousness of the case, stating that the police had worked closely with partners to assess all available actions.

“Filming in public is legal, but when it crosses into harassment, stalking, or upskirting, it is absolutely unacceptable,” Wiggins said.

He reassured the public that police officers, charities, and volunteers would be working together to keep the nightlife scene safe, particularly as the busy holiday season approaches.
