Manchester United’s first-team head coach, Erik ten Hag has run out of time as the team has decided to let go of him and go after someone else to handle the team.
Well, this development comes shortly after ten Hag’s final game on Sunday where the team suffered a 2-1 defeat at West Ham that left the club 14th in the Premier League with just three wins from their opening nine matches.
Erik ten Hag sacked: The news of his dismissal was confirmed Monday, October 28th, in a statement released by the club on their official website. And this new comes few weeks after his contract with the team was extended.
According to the statement, Manchester United announced they they are very grateful to Erik for everything he has done for the club which included leading the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024, since his appointment in April 2022.
United are also 21st of 36 teams in the Europa League table, having drawn their three opening fixtures.
As it stands now, Erik ten Hag, 54, will be replaced by Ruud van Nistelrooy, who joined the club as Ten Hag’s assistant last summer, as the interim manager as the team searches for a permanent head coach.

“Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager.” The team announced, adding that “Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.”
They continued; “We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.”
“Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited.” the statement concluded.
