Manchester United have agreed deals in principle to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona and left-back Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord.

The Red Devils are yet to make a signing during this summer window despite a difficult 2021/22 campaign seeing them missed out on champions league with a sixth finish in EPL.

The Red devils pursuit of the Catalan midfielder is expected to be finalised in a €65million (£56.14m) deal plus add-ons. It is understood the initial fee will be paid in instalments.

United new boss Erik ten Hag is said to be desperate for a reunion with his former Ajax midfielder and has made him his top priority.

United’s new manager who is also open to reinforcing at the full back has been backed with a €15m (£12.9m) move for Dutch international Malacia, 22.

The 20 time English champions after Hijacking a deal to Lyon have now moved into the driving seat for Malacia, with Feyenoord director Frank Arnesen revealing that the Dutch outfit have reached an agreement with Man United.

“The agreement is there. We are now waiting for Tyrell. If he says yes, then a transfer to Manchester United is imminent,” Arnesen told 1908.nl.

Lyon were thought to be on the verge of signing the Dutchman, only for Man United stepped in at the final moment when Lyon were at the verge of signing Tyrell Malacia.

Malacia’s arrival could lead to the latter departing of one United’s two first team left backs this summer.

According to BBC Sport and Transfer Expert, the Red Devils are now close to completing a double deal for Malacia and De Jong, with the duo set to become Ten Hag’s first signings at Old Trafford.

According to source, Erik ten Hag is keen on adding Christian Eriksen to his midfield, with the Denmark international set to leave Brentford at the end of the month.

The Red Devils are back in training preparing to travel to Bangkok on July 8 and Ten Hag is determined to have new signings on board to integrate into the squad.

The Red Devils will take on Liverpool, Melbourne Victory, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano as part of their preparations for the 2022-23 campaign.
