Ghanaian rapper Medikal sparked controversy on social media by asserting his wealth surpasses that of Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer Asake.

Medikal’s remarks fuel an ongoing feud between Ghana and Nigeria, initially instigated by Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie, who confidently affirmed his seniority in the music scene before the rise of Nigerian stars like Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Asake, and Black Sherif, in his recent track “Brag.”

This ignited a response from Nigerian rapper Dremo, who fired back at Sarkodie with two diss tracks. Sarkodie has yet to respond.

In response to the ongoing beef between Ghanaian and Nigerian rappers, Medikal took to social media, highlighting the challenge of responding to a rapper with no notable achievements, stating, “One of the hardest tasks about beef is replying a rapper with zero achievements. where you go even start from ? lol”

This prompted a repartee from Nigerian social media influencer @_AsiwajuLerry, who appeared to downplay the accomplishments of Ghanaian artists by suggesting that even the most successful Ghanaian artist would struggle to compete with a newcomer like Asake in terms of achievements.

He urged Ghanaian artists to focus on their craft instead of engaging in Twitter banter. “Ghana artistes chatting about achievements is a funny move. The biggest artiste in your country will have to battle with a new cat like Asake if it’s by number of achievements. Stop yapping on Twitter and get in the booth.” Lerry wrote.

Medikal then reasserted himself, claiming to be wealthier than Asake, stating, “I totally respect what you are saying but Asake no get money pass me.”
