Akeem Ayobami Moshood, a Nigerian man living in Rochdale, UK, tragically passed away in his sleep on Sunday, February 9, 2025.
The sudden and unexpected death has left his wife, three children, and the entire community in shock and mourning.
Moshood, who had lived with his family in Rochdale for some time, was a well-loved figure, and his untimely passing has deeply affected all who knew him.
Family friend Hellen Kotila shared the heartbreaking news, describing the death as a devastating loss.
She expressed how difficult it has been for the family, who are now faced with not only the emotional pain of the loss but also the financial burden of funeral expenses.

In a heartfelt post on social media, Kotila revealed that the family has started a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs of the funeral, or Janazah, as it’s referred to in their faith.
She also urged people to offer prayers for the deceased, asking for Allah’s mercy and forgiveness for Moshood, and that he be granted a place in Jannah, the highest part of paradise.
“We are raising money to fund the Janazah costs. The family needs money to bury him as soon as possible. Any little amount counts. Thank you all,” Kotila’s post read.
Moshood’s death has sent shockwaves through his former neighbors in Cardiff, where the family had lived prior to moving to Rochdale.
