Giovanni Reyna, an American midfielder, has joined Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan from Borussia Dortmund.
Reyna, who has 24 caps for his country, became a teenage star at Dortmund and debuted in the Bundesliga at the age of 17.
He is 21 years old and has only made one start this season in the league.
Dortmund declared that Reyna had inked a new deal that would last until June 2026 when they announced the loan.
Forest does not have the option to extend the loan agreement.
Reyna, the daughter of former American midfield player Claudio, was born at Sunderland, where his father was a player from 2001 to 2003.
An issue between his family and coach Gregg Berhalter prevented him from playing for the US World Cup team in Qatar in 2022.
