The Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, are awards for artistic and technical merit in the film industry. They are regarded by many as the most prestigious and significant awards in the entertainment industry worldwide.
Given annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), the awards are international recognition of excellence in cinematic achievements, as assessed by the Academy’s voting membership.
The various category winners are awarded a copy of a golden statuette as a trophy, officially called the “Academy Award of Merit”, although more commonly referred to by its nickname, the “Oscar”. The statuette depicts a knight rendered in the Art Deco style.
This year’s wards even which serve as the 94th Academy Awards came off on Sunday, March 27, 2022, after the nomination got released back in February 8, 2022, by actors Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan.
The 94th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, is honoring the best films released between March 1 and December 31, 2021, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 27, 2022.
the likes of American actor Will Smith, Ariana DeBose took home prestigious awards, Troy Kotsur also became the first deaf man to win acting oscar Troy.
The 2022 Oscars climaxed with a powerful stage performance from the likes of Beyonce and was hosted by Wanda Sykes, Regina Hall, and Amy Schumer.
