Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has opened up about the toll the club’s recent poor form is taking on his health, revealing that he is struggling with sleepless nights and trouble eating properly.
City’s disappointing 2-0 loss to Juventus on December 11 marked their seventh defeat in just 10 matches across all competitions, deepening the pressure on Guardiola and his squad.
The manager, who is known for his intense focus and high standards, admitted that the club’s struggles have left him physically and mentally drained.
In a conversation with former teammate Luca Toni, Guardiola shared the emotional impact of the recent results. “Sometimes you don’t need to have a great team to be happy,” Guardiola reflected, explaining that the continuous pressure and bad results naturally affect both players and coaches.
Guardiola’s health has been a topic of concern lately, as his recent comments raised alarm about his wellbeing. He confessed that the stress has been accumulating, leading to nervousness and anxiety.

“I am a person who sometimes gets nervous, I have bad days, I make a lot of mistakes and rudeness makes me nervous,” he said.
“Do I sometimes lose my head? Yes. I sleep worse and I don’t digest food properly now. I always have to eat light. Only soup at night.”

Despite his physical struggles, Guardiola assured that he remains committed to his role and believes the difficulties are temporary.
“I am the same coach as five months ago, the one who won the Premier League title,” he added. “If I’m in a bad mood, it’s bad. But I know it will pass.”

Guardiola remains hopeful that, despite the current challenges, City can find their rhythm and perform well in the Champions League. “I sincerely believe that it will be a year of great difficulties,” he said.
“We have to find continuity. But if we manage to get through to the Champions League, it will not be easy for anyone to face us.”
With Manchester United looming on the horizon in a crucial derby at the Etihad on Sunday, Guardiola will be hoping for a turnaround to lift both his team’s spirits and his own.
