Four suspects, including two police officers, have been arrested in connection with a series of “blue light” robberies, following their alleged involvement in truck hijackings and carjackings in Kempton Park, Gauteng, South Africa.
The arrests were made after a detailed investigation, which linked the officers to these criminal activities.
The operation, initiated by law enforcement officials, was based on intelligence that implicated the two police officers in these crimes.
According to police spokesperson Col Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, the officers were brought in for questioning, which then led to the discovery of two additional civilian suspects.
“Information from the interview led the police to two more civilian suspects who were found in possession of three firearms and signal jamming devices,” Nevhuhulwi confirmed.
The authorities believe the devices were used to disable vehicle tracking systems during the hijackings and carjackings.

Gauteng provincial police commissioner Lt-Gen Tommy Mthombeni expressed his dismay over the involvement of police officers in criminal activity.

“It is disheartening to see those who are expected to enforce and uphold the law being the ones who work together with criminals to terrorize our communities,” he said.
Mthombeni emphasized that the arrests should send a clear message to any corrupt officers: “The arm of the law is too long, and we will surely catch up with them.”
This case highlights the ongoing issue of corruption within law enforcement agencies and the commitment of the South African police to hold their own accountable.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging the public to continue reporting any information related to such criminal activities.
