A lawsuit accusing rap moguls Jay Z, and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs of allegedly rapping a 13-year-old girl back in 2000 has been dismissed.
According to reports, the lawsuit was dismissed on Valentine’s Day, Friday, February 14, 2025, by the attorney representing the Jane Doe in New York.
As to the plaintiff’s filing, the case was “voluntarily dismissed with prejudice.” No more information was immediately available.
This news was confirmed by rapper Jay Z following a social media post he made which was signed by Shawn Carter, Jay-Z’s legal name, where he called it as a victory, adding that the issue caused trauma for his wife and children.
“Today is a victory. The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed. This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere.” The statement said “The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims. I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed.”
The statement continues; “This 1-800 lawyer gets to file a suit hiding behind Jane Doe, and when they quickly realize that the money grab is going to fail, they get to walk away with no repercussions. The system has failed.”
“The court must protect victims, OF COURSE, while with the same ethical responsibility, the courts must protect the innocent from being accused without a shred of evidence. May the truth prevail for all victims and those falsely accused equally.”

Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, also issued a statement saying: “The false case against Jay-Z, that never should have been brought, has been dismissed with prejudice. By standing up in the face of heinous and false allegations, Jay has done what few can – he pushed back, he never settled, he never paid 1 red penny, he triumphed and cleared his name.”

Background Of The Lawsuit Against Jay Z & Diddy
A woman identified as Jane Doe initially filed a lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs in October, later adding Jay-Z’s name to the case. She accused both music moguls of sexually assaulting her in 2000 after an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty.

Jay-Z swiftly denied the allegations, calling them an attempt at “blackmail” to pressure him into an out-of-court settlement. Instead of complying, he vowed to publicly expose his accuser. The case saw a wave of legal battles and media attention.
In December, Jane Doe’s credibility took a hit after she admitted in an interview that she wasn’t entirely sure about all the details and even suggested she may have misidentified someone. Despite this, a judge ruled that she could remain anonymous in her lawsuit.
Last month, Jay-Z requested the case against him be dismissed, citing inconsistencies in the woman’s story. A federal judge granted his motion, officially clearing him from the lawsuit.Meanwhile, Combs is still facing multiple lawsuits.
He has been held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center since September 2024 on serious charges, including racketeering and sex trafficking. With bail denied three times, he remains behind bars as he awaits trial on May 5, 2025—where he could potentially face life in prison.
