Information reaching us has it that American rapper Rich Homie Quan has died.
The news of the 34-year-old rapper’s death was first confirmed by fellow artist Boosie BadAzz, who was first on the scene on his X account (formerly known as Twitter) on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
Boosie BadAzz, who expressed his deep grief, posted: “JUST TALKED TO YOU BRA 😓 #tipQUAN Never go forget yo smile n the way talked n of course yo music 💯” to his followers, sparking an outpouring of tributes and condolences from fans and artists worldwide.
According to The Sun, both the family of Rich Homie Quan and a local morgue have verified the reports of his passing to TMZ. As the family expressed how shattered and heartbroken they are by his sudden death
Rich Homie Quan’s Cause Of Death
Rich Homie Quan, whose real name is Dequantes Devontay Lamar, tragically passed away due to an accidental drug overdose. The 34-year-old artist’s death was caused by a combination of fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine, as well as promethazine.
R&B singer Jacquees, a frequent collaborator and close friend of Quan, also took to social media to share his sorrow. He wrote, “Rest in Peace my brother Rich Homie Quan. I love you for Life. #Richgang.” The heartfelt messages from fellow musicians and fans highlight the impact Quan had on those around him and the hip-hop community as a whole.
Rich Homie Quan began his musical career in 2011, but achieved mainstream recognition with his 2013 single “Type of Way,” which peaked at number 50 on the Billboard Hot 100. This release signaled the start of a great phase for Quan, who quickly followed up with the 2015 single “Flex,” which soared even higher to number 26 on the charts.
Quan was also recognized for his relationship with fellow Atlanta rapper Young Thug. They collaborated with Cash Money Records’ spin-off project, Rich Gang, which achieved early success with their 2014 hit “Lifestyle.” They continued to work together, creating hits like as “Tell Em” in 2014 and “Up, Up & Away” in 2015.
Quan is survived by four sons, including his oldest, Devin, born in 2006.

The Instagram photos, captioned, “Vision clear even through the BS,” showed the Flex artist preparing for and later rocking the stage at a concert.
Was Rich Homie Quan Into Drugs?
Rich Homie Quan has had a history of legal issues, particularly those involving alleged drug use.
In May 2017, the rapper was charged with felony drug possession with intent to distribute. However, the case took a turn in 2019 when it was dismissed owing to insufficient evidence, according to TMZ.
