Ronald Koeman Is Refusing To Take a £4 Million Wage Cut From His Barcelona pay-Off, Insisting On Receiving £10 Million’.
According to rumours in Spain, Ronald Koeman is refusing to accept a £4 million cut in his Barcelona contract after being fired.

After their worst start to a season since 1987-88, the Dutchman’s 14 months in charge of Barcelona came to an end last week with a defeat against Rayo Vallecano.

As a result of the decision made by club president Joan Laporta and the board, Sportsmail understands the former Everton and Southampton manager was poised to get a £10 million pay-off.

However, according to sources, the club is now only willing to give the 58-year-old £6 million, which he refuses to accept.

Lluis Canut, a journalist for the channel, said Radio Catalunya via SPORT: ‘It’s €12 million (£10 million), but I want to clarify that this has nothing to do with the money paid to the Dutch federation (to sign him), which was €5 million (£4.2 million) that Barcelona paid immediately.’

‘I’m not sure if these 12 include what he owes his technical staff or if it’s just him, given that he had to defer 45 percent of his income last season due to the epidemic.’

‘In the first conversations, they urged him to take a cut of roughly seven or eight million pounds (£4 million), significantly less than the twelve they must pay him.

‘It’s a contract signed by both sides, not by the present board, but it’s a recognized contract, and it needs to be paid.’

Barcelona’s financial woes have been well-documented, with the club acknowledging last month that they lost £409 million in the previous financial year and that they were ‘technically insolvent’ when Laporta was re-elected president in March.

Meanwhile, Xavi is a strong contender to succeed Koeman at Camp Nou, although the club is under criticism on that front as well.

Al Sadd, the current club of the former player, is said to be upset with Barcelona’s handling of the agreement.
