The Portuguese captain at age 37 is still one of the best players on this planet.

Ralf Rangnick’s side look set to finish the campaign without Champions league football next season but they ended their home campaign on a high as they beat Brentford by 3 goals to nil.

Monday evening was certainly a fitting finale and last appearance for the likes of Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic and Edison Cavani at Old Trafford after an amazing performance against Brentford.

Cristiano Ronaldo was once again Manchester United‘s best player with the help of Juan Mata and Matic which saw the Red devils thrash Brentford 3-0 on Monday night.

The former Real Madrid player showed a world class performance at Old Trafford and was rewarded his 18th Premier League goal of the season in the second half.

Bruno Fernandes gave United an early lead via a cross from Anthony Elanga in the 9th minutes.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner first half goal was ruled out by VAR but later scored through a penalty spot ’61’ after he was brought down in the penalty box by Rico Henry in the second half.

Raphael Varane first ever goal since joining the club sealed United victory with a third goal from a corner kick in the 72nd minutes of the game.

The Portuguese captain was named Man of the Match and received an incredible reception alongside Mata and Matic from the United fans who remained in the stadium after the full-time whistle.

However there’s a chance we may be seeing Ronaldo in the Red Devils jersey next season, as the striker appeared to send a message to the world as he left the pitch with the cameras on him saying: “I’m not finished.”

However, Ralf Rangnick sees no reason why Ronaldo shouldn’t be in next season’s plans but advised new manager Erik ten Hag to keep the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

“The way we played again tonight, not only because he scored he also won the penalty and helped defensively, why should he not be part of the squad and help the team?’ said Rangnick. “But this is a question you have to ask Erik and also Cristiano.”

Cristiano is not a central striker. He does not want to play in that position but if you look at international football there are not many teams who play with two strikers.”

For me, it is a question of what players Manchester United have in the future. It is obvious United need two more quality strikers.” “Modern strikers do not necessarily have to be strikers. Liverpool or Manchester City have five or six top-class strikers. If you ask me if Gabriel Jesus or Jack Grealish is a winger or a striker, they can all play there.

United legend Roy Keane believes the former Real Madrid and Juventus man who has 12 months remaining on his current deal will be at the club next season.

I wouldn’t have thought so,” the Irishman replied when asked if the Brentford match could be Ronaldo’s Old Trafford swansong.”

I know there’s speculation but I can’t imagine Ronaldo not being at Man United next year unless something drastic changes in the summer.
If you look at the goals he’s got, he’s a threat and any manager would want to work with him. Simple as that.
