Russia carried out a large-scale overnight drone assault on Ukraine, injuring four individuals and inflicting significant damage to residential and commercial infrastructure across several regions, Ukrainian authorities confirmed on Saturday.
According to Ukraine’s Air Force, 88 drones were launched during the attack, with air defense units successfully intercepting 56. An additional 24 drones were reportedly “lost” as military forces employed electronic warfare tactics to redirect them away from their intended targets.
In the capital, Kyiv, three people were injured as a result of the drone strikes, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported. Debris from the downed drones destroyed a private residence and ignited major fires in multiple commercial properties throughout the city, according to city officials.
In northeastern Ukraine, one person was injured in Kharkiv, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said.
Damage was also reported in central Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region, where regional authorities confirmed impacts to both homes and businesses. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s military noted additional structural damage in the southern Odesa region.
This latest wave of drone attacks highlights the continued volatility of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, as both sides intensify efforts amid ongoing hostilities.
