Arsenal defeated Burnley, who were in second place, 5-0 at Turf Moor on Saturday. Bukayo Saka scored twice before halftime to help Arsenal move up to second place and maintain pressure on Premier League leaders Liverpool.
In the fourth minute, Saka made it 2-0 from the penalty spot following a foul on Leandro Trossard. Martin Ødegaard had opened the score with a left-footed shot from outside the box into the bottom right corner.
With a strong right-footed finish, Saka scored his second goal two minutes after halftime, his 12th league goal of the season. Trossard then made it 4-0, and Kai Havertz added a fifth as Arsenal easily won their fifth game in a row in 2024.

After 25 games, the north London team is three points ahead of champion Manchester City, who face Chelsea in the late kickoff, and two points behind Liverpool, who won 4-1 at Brentford.

It was always going to be a difficult afternoon for Burnley manager Vincent Kompany, who had to watch from the stands following his third booking of the season, and things got worse.
Aaron Ramsey of Burnley appeared to have injured his knee in a tackle by Ødegaard, and was taken off the field on a stretcher while receiving oxygen. This caused the game to stop in the sixty-third minute.
In 19th place, level on points with Sheffield United, the bottom team, Burnley is still in serious difficulty.
