Bayer Leverkusen upset Qarabag to advance to the Europa League quarterfinals and continue their undefeated season thanks to two goals from Patrik Schick in stoppage time.

Visitors Qarabag took control of the match with goals from Abdellah Zoubir and Juninho in the second half, giving them a 4-2 aggregate lead.

But ten minutes after Elvin Cafarguliyev, the Qarabag defender, was sent off, Jeremie Frimpong scored with a volley.

And for Xabi Alonso’s team, Czech forward Schick was the late hero.

When he turned in Alex Grimaldo’s cross, the 28-year-old appeared to be about to send the match into extra time, but there was still time for a surprise.

The Azerbaijani visitors were left stunned as Schick’s header from Exequiel Palacios’ cross in the seventh extra minute caused wild celebrations among the home crowd at the BayArena.

The Bundesliga leaders’ incredible unbeaten streak in 37 games across all competitions this season was extended by the stunning comeback.
