Shatta Wale, a well-known reggae and dancehall performer from Ghana, has voiced his displeasure with the Black Stars’ lackluster performance against Cape Verde in their African Cup of Nations (AFCON) opener.

The multiple award-winning musician criticized Ghana Football Association (GFA) officials in a video shared on social media, speculating that the team should be renamed “Black Soil” because of their alleged incapacity to achieve notable outcomes.

Shatta Wale argued in his video, “How can a star be black? Name the team Black Soil so they can at least produce something because black soils are the best.”

At the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium, the Black Stars suffered a defeat as Cape Verde won thanks to goals from Garry Rodrigues and Jamiro Monteiro. Ghana received some comfort from Alexander Djiku’s one-shot effort, but not enough to change the outcome.
