Background

Readers may recall that Shatta Wale, a dancehall act, recently addressed the E-Levy bill in a live Facebook session.

In it, the alleged dancehall king drew in Ghanaian celebrities like Jackie Appiah, who allowed the government to exploit them for an NLA campaign while remaining silent on other important issues.

In the live broadcast, he went even further to smear Jackie’s reputation by implying that she has been exploiting her body to get money rather than the movie business, saying:

“When was the last time you did a movie that sold one million dollars.  Yet, you always want people to know that you are living life because you are acting.  Hey, there are actresses who are suffering? The ‘toto’ work we know.”

What are your thoughts on this, guys?

Was all this necessary?
