Former Bad Boy Rapper Shyne Barrow Breaks Silence, Says Diddy 'Destroyed My Life'

Moses ‘Shyne’ Barrow, a former Bad Boy rapper who is now a politician, openly discussed Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ recent arrest at a press conference in Belize.

Shyne finally found the opportunity to speak by sharing his thoughts on the arrest of Diddy in a recent press conference held in native Belize.

Looking back on their troubled history, Barrow, now the Leader of the Opposition in the House of Representatives in Belize accused the music tycoon of significantly impacting his life in a negative way.

Shyne revealed that Diddy’s actions during a 1999 nightclub shooting incident that left three people injured, where he claimed to have defended Combs, led to his downfall. Barrow, who was 18 at the time, claimed that he wanted to make his family and country proud through his music career.

However, instead of supporting him, Diddy allegedly turned against him, sending witnesses who testified against Shyne to court, resulting in his imprisonment.

“When I was an 18-year-old kid, just wanting to do nothing other than make my mother proud and make Belize proud, I was defending him, and he turned around and called witnesses to testify against me,” Shyne said. “He pretty much sent me to prison,” he added, although no details were provided to corroborate these claims.

So Barrow was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2001. He was released in 2009 and subsequently deported back to Belize.

At the time of Shyne’s sentencing, Combs said in a statement, “Shyne’s sentence is unfair and extreme, as I know he had no intention of hurting anyone. My prayers are with him and his family. I’m shocked by today’s outcome. I will continue to support Shyne throughout his appeal.”

Barrow, who went on to transform from being a rising rap artist to a respected political leader, stated that, despite his personal problems, he forgave Combs for the sake of Belize. He stated that he intended to use Combs’ influence at the time to bring educational opportunities like scholarships and prospective investments to the country.

“Let’s not lose sight of what the cold hard facts are. This is not someone who I vacationed with and someone who I enjoyed this great, intimate relationship of brotherhood. This is someone who destroyed my life, and who I forgave, and who I moved on, and for the better interest of Belize because he was in the position at that time to give scholarships and maybe to invest,”

He continued. “I would not deny attempting to bring the investment to Belize and bring the contributions to education.”

Barrow also addressed reports regarding his claimed involvement in Combs’ famed “freak-offs,” declaring categorically that he never took part in such activities.

Shyne’s statements come in the wake of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ ongoing legal issues. On September 16, the rapper was arrested at a Manhattan hotel on allegations of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation of individuals for prostitution, according to a federal indictment.

The indictment also detailed alarming allegations about Combs’ infamous “freak-off” parties, in which women were allegedly compelled into attending, frequently under the influence of drugs.

Prosecutors claim that victims were frequently filmed without their permission, and when Combs’ homes were raided, over 1,000 bottles of baby oil were taken as unsettling evidence.

Combs pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on September 17. His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, stated that Combs is undergoing treatment and therapy for personal issues.

Despite his legal team proposing a $50 million bail package, the judge denied bail, leaving Combs in custody as he awaits trial.
