Nigerian singer Speed Darlington has issued a direct challenge to Grammy Award winner Burna Boy, inviting him to settle their differences in a boxing ring for a substantial cash reward.
Speaking in a recent interview with Hip TV, the artist known as “Akpi” dismissed Burna Boy’s physical capabilities, claiming the musical success of the international star does not make him a tough fighter. Speed Darlington pledged to put up a large sum of money to make the match happen.
“I challenge Burna Boy to fight me,” Speed Darlington said. “I will drop a huge sum just to fight him. I want to fight him. I will beat him. He’s all hype. He can’t beat me. Just because some people like his music doesn’t mean he can beat me. I am challenging him.”
Burna Boy has not publicly responded to the bout proposal.
The recent proposal follows months of public friction involving Speed Darlington, who previously faced backlash for mocking Burna Boy. Speed Darlington had publicly questioned Burna Boy’s Grammy win and made allegations regarding his connection to American rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs.

The rivalry previously bled into the ring in April during a high-profile fight between Speed Darlington and fellow singer Portable. Following that match, Portable claimed that Burna Boy gifted him N20 million as a reward for defeating Speed Darlington in their boxing encounter.
