Stonebwoy, one of Africa’s most renowned dancehall artists, was the featured act at the African Union 2023 Africa Games closing ceremony.
The globally recognised performer left the enthusiastic audience wanting more following a breathtaking 10-song set to end this year’s continental multi-sport tournament hosted in Ghana at the 20,000-seat University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Accra.
He ran through songs like “Manodzi,” “Kpokeke,” “Higher,” “Activate,” “Therapy,” “Overlord,” “Bawasaba,” “Apotheke,” and “Into the Future,” bringing his upbeat vibes and distinctive blend of dancehall, reggae, and afrobeat to the stadium. It was an incredible show that enthralled both the crowd there and those watching at home.

The multi-award-winning singer, songwriter, and performer is well-known throughout the African continent and is recognised as the pioneer and inspiration behind Afrodancehall’s rise to international renown. She has captivated enormous crowds in Africa, the US, Europe, and beyond.
Even though he has achieved success on larger platforms and released huge worldwide songs like “Into the Future,” “Activate,” and “Shuga,” his career really took off when he performed for this sizable crowd at the 2023 African Games closing ceremony.
Prior to his appearance at the Africa Games closing ceremony, Stonebwoy won the title of “Best African Dancehall Entertainer” at the just ended 41st International Reggae & World Awards 2024, which were held in Jamaica.
This honour joins an amazing list of prior IRAWMA victories for him, which also includes “Best African Dancehall Entertainer” in 2020 and “Most Promising Artiste” in 2016.
