Oscar nominee and Golden Globe-winning actress, Taraji P. Henson to host the upcoming 2024 BET Awards.
The nominations for this year’s awards were announced on Thursday, May 16, 2024, and however, the event is scheduled to come off on Sunday, June 30, airing live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, where Usher will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Taraji P. Henson as Host: This isn’t the first time but rather she is returning to host the event for the third time, she first hosted it in 2021, followed up in 2022 again as host, and now 2024.

Following the announcement on Monday, the actress, 53, expressed her excitements to return to host the ceremony once again.
“I am thrilled to be returning as the host of the BET Awards for the third time,” Henson shared in a press statement. “I am also looking forward to celebrating my peers and the impact of our culture on entertainment.”
“Taraji is a phenom, known for her vibrant personality and charisma, and we are excited to welcome her back to host Culture’s Biggest Night, BET Awards, the ultimate celebration of Black creativity,” Connie Orlando, executive vice president Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET said in a statement.
He continued; “We are equally as thrilled to have so many incredibly talented performers join us, standing on culture’s biggest stage to deliver an unforgettable night.”
2024 BET Awards Nominees: Canadian rapper and singer, Drake leads the pack with a total of seven (7) nods, followed by rapper Nicki Minaj, who followed closely with six (6) nominations.

The likes of J. Cole, Sexyy Red, SZA, and Victoria Monét each earned five nominations, while 21 Savage, Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, singers, Tyla and Usher have nods in four categories each.
Drake, Kendrick Lamar, 21 Savage, Burna Boy, Gunna, J. Cole, and Lil Wayne will be competing for the Best Male Hip Hop Artist category. Meanwhile Cardi B, Doja Cat, GloRilla, Ice Spice, Latto, Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, and Sexyy Red are up for the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist category.
While 41, 4BATZ, AYRA STARR, BOSSMAN DLOW, FRIDAYY, OCTOBER LONDON, SEXYY RED, and TYLA, are all up for the Best New Artist category
For the Best International Act category at the BET Awards 2024, the competition is gonna be between ASAKE (Nigeria), AYA NAKAMURA (France), AYRA STARR (Nigeria), BK’ (Brazil), CLEO SOL (UK), FOCALISTIC (South Africa), KAROL CONKÁ (Brazil), RAYE (UK), TIAKOLA (France), TYLA (South Africa)
Best Female R&B/Pop Artist category will also see competition from the likes of Beyoncé, Coco Jones, Doja Cat, H.E.R., Muni Long, SZA, Tyla, and Victoria Monét, while Brent Faiyaz, Bryson Tiller, Burna Boy, Chris Brown, Drake, Fridayy, October London, and Usher are up to compete for the Best male R&B/pop artist category
Performers: According to BET the 2024 edition of the annual award will witness powerfyl musical performances from Victoria Monét, GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red and Shaboozey.
