Teen only trains muscles on one side of his body to challenge society's beauty standards

A lot of interesting things are happening in this world, as a 19-year-old TikToker identified by his username @TheCrookedMon10 has taken over the internet space by storm for his unusual approach to fitness, which involves developing an imbalanced physique by only training one side of his body.

The young man, who has been nicknamed “Trap Man” by his followers, has spent over five months working out only his left trapezius muscle, which has resulted in a significantly asymmetrical appearance that has caused a lot of mixed reactions on social media.

His fitness journey is a message rather than just a unique exercise routine. By intentionally embracing asymmetry, he is challenging traditional bodybuilding principles that place a premium on symmetry and balanced muscular development.

“Why? It’s simple,” he explained in a TikTok post. “If you’re in a Ferrari and you scroll through TikTok, you’re going to see a bunch of videos about making yourself look better. They’re always telling you to do this, to do that, to make yourself more attractive and get more women.”

His unique perspective created the “#looksminimizing” trend, a rebellious reaction to the internet’s “looksmaxxing” phenomenon, which aims at encourages self-improvement to meet social beauty standards.

Despite fitness experts’ warnings about the possible health consequences of such an unusual practice, which include muscular imbalances and injuries, Trap Man remains undeterred. He has already moved on to his next challenge: training solely his right leg, according to the Times of India.

Studies have shown that training one muscle can cause a phenomenon known as cross-education, in which the opposite side of the body gains benefits via the neurological system. However, Trap Man’s left trapezius is noticeably more muscular than the rest of his body.

His unconventional fitness journey has generated discussions on cultural expectations and the pressures of looks, but opinions on his experiment are divided, with some praising his innovative thinking and courage and others raising concerns about the long-term effects.
