Ten Hag prepares for FA Cup final despite sacking rumours

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, is getting ready for the FA Cup final, but he has no idea if the rumours that he would be fired regardless of the outcome are accurate.

Suspensions regarding Ten Hag’s future grew louder on Friday morning, and The Guardian later revealed that the Dutchman would be fired in the wake of the Wembley match against Manchester City on Saturday at 15:00 BST.

United declined to comment on the narrative. Club sources insist that their only concern is trying to finish the difficult season on a high note and winning the cup final against Pep Guardiola’s team for the second time in a row.

It is emphasised that they are still dedicated to conducting an end-of-season evaluation, following which Ten Hag’s future will be decided.

United has not gotten in touch with Ten Hag or his reps. Everything reminds me uneasily of the night, eight years ago, when Louis van Gaal, another Dutchman who played with Ten Hag, found out he was going to be fired just as the 2016 championship victory against Crystal Palace was coming to an end.

The United leadership told Van Gaal of the decision a day later.

With the exception of the five years when all English clubs were banned, United and City know going into the FA Cup final that a loss will result in neither team playing in Europe the following season for the second time since 1981–1982.

Their Premier League result of ninth was their lowest since 1989–90 and one spot lower than the 2013–14 David Moyes season. Thomas Tuchel, Gareth Southgate, Mauricio Pochettino, Kieran McKenna, and other players have all been proposed as replacements. This week, Ten Hag stated that he is making plans for the upcoming season.
