Texas Man Accused of Killing Wife After Affair, Dumping Body in Mexico

A Texas man has been arrested for allegedly strangling his wife to death after discovering she was having an affair, then dumping her body in Mexico, authorities said.

Jorge Mares Raygoza, 47, was arrested on March 28 by the El Paso Police Department and charged with murder in connection with the death of his wife, Coral Llamas Sifuentes, 45.

According to police, Raygoza and Sifuentes were married but living in separate states. He worked in Hobbs, New Mexico, while Sifuentes lived in El Paso, Texas, with their children. Raygoza reportedly visited on weekends.

Court documents say Raygoza found out about the alleged two-year affair on March 18 after discovering Sifuentes at a hotel with another man. Days later, on March 21, he confronted her.

According to an arrest affidavit, Raygoza admitted to flying into a rage and strangling Sifuentes for around 30 minutes.

He then dressed her body, placed her in the back seat of her car, and drove to a scheduled job interview in El Paso, authorities said.

After the interview, surveillance cameras captured Raygoza driving across the border into Juarez, Mexico, using his wife’s vehicle. He returned shortly afterward—alone.

Investigators say he dumped her body along a highway in Juarez and later destroyed her phone and smartwatch to avoid detection.

Sifuentes’ body was found on March 22 along the Periferico Camino Real highway in Juarez. Mexican authorities determined she died from asphyxiation due to strangulation.

The case came to light when Raygoza contacted authorities to identify his wife’s body after seeing a public notice. The FBI was alerted, and U.S. investigators determined the murder occurred in El Paso. That led to Raygoza’s arrest and a $1.25 million bond.

The El Paso Police Department says the investigation remains ongoing.
