In September 2023, nominations for eight awards were made public. An international jury then chose the top three candidates in most categories.

The women’s qualifying period ran from August 1, 2022, up to and including August 20, this year, the day of the World Cup final, and the men’s qualifying period ran from December 19, 2022, through August 20 of this year.

Declan Rice, an England and Arsenal midfielder, along with stars Julian Alvarez, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, and Ilkay Gundogan, a former City midfielder, are the nominees for this year’s men’s player award.

Along with Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, Pep Guardiola of City is one of five nominees for the Best FIFA Men’s Coach award.

Five of the England squads that advanced to the World Cup final in August have received nominations in the women’s division. While Rachel Daly, Alex Greenwood, Lauren James, and Keira Walsh are nominated for the outfield player award, goalkeeper Mary Earps is the front-runner for the Best Women’s Goalkeeper title.

Alongside retiring Chelsea manager Emma Hayes, Sarina Wiegman, the manager of the Lionesses, is a nominee for the Best Women’s Coach award.

FIFA has not yet confirmed the exact location of the event.
