Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, the founder of Action Chapel International, became 67 years old on Sunday, May 12, 2024. As part of the celebrations, the dynamic religion leader in Ghana took a seat for an interview to share his thoughts on his many years in ministry.

In an interview with Bernard Avle of Citi FM/Citi TV, Archbishop Duncan-Williams talked about the early years of his ministry and how some of the prominent figures in the Church at the time rejected him.

Duncan-Williams informed the writer about one of the early ones, specifically recalling how he had gone to James McKeown, the Founder of the Church of Pentecost, after graduating from Bible school in Nigeria with the hopes of getting hired by him.

Unfortunately for him, as he described, McKeown turned him down, stating that at the time, the CoP was not interested in grooming people for the path he intended to take.

“I didn’t have a mentor; I made an effort to seek assistance and a mentor, but I wasn’t accepted. During our conversation today, Bishop Dag brought to my memory a few of the experiences I had and the people I sought support from.

After returning from Bible school in Nigeria, I went to see James McKeown, the founder of the Church of Pentecost, and I decided I wanted to work as an evangelist there.

“And he added that they are not interested in an evangelist since they had a lot of experience with people who left the church and did not behave properly as evangelists. He then prayed for me and released me,” he explained.

Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams also described how, despite his best efforts, he had made a similar attempt with Archbishop Benson Idahosa.

Duncan-Williams informed the writer that he thought God had called him to serve in Nigeria under Idahosa rather than Ghana. This was confirmed to him when he saw Idahosa. However, he claimed that because Ghana was where he had been called, Idahosa had requested him to return.
