Tottenham And Antonio Conte Deal Ends In Final Talks Over £15.5m-Per-Year

On Sunday night, hours before sacking Nuno Espirito Santo, Tottenham approached Antonio Conte with a fresh attempt to take over as manager.

Spurs were unable to persuade the former Chelsea manager to take the job last summer, but now that Nuno has been fired after only four months in charge, they have gone back to look for him. Tottenham is now hopeful that they will be able to reach an agreement this time.

In what would be an eye-catching appointment for the London club, talks between the two parties are proceeding swiftly. He might possibly start training on Tuesday, with a bid of around £15.5 million on the table.

Conte was linked with replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United only a few weeks ago, but after the Red Devils’ impressive 3-0 win against Spurs, the 52-year-old might be moving to London.

Antonio Conte has been without a job since leaving Inter Milan at the end of last season, having won Serie A for the first time with the Italian giants since 2010.

Antonio Conte won the Premier League with Chelsea, Tottenham’s London rivals, in his debut season at Stamford Bridge.

He won the FA Cup the next year, but was fired by Roman Abramovich after the club finished fifth in the table.

Conte would be in charge of getting Tottenham to play more daring football than Nuno and his predecessor, Jose Mourinho, did.
