On Saturday, February 1, President Donald Trump authorized a targeted airstrike that killed a senior member of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Somalia.
This operation, carried out by the U.S. military, eliminated the high-ranking terrorist and several of his associates, who were hiding in caves.
Trump took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the success of the airstrike, confirming that it destroyed the caves where the terrorists were hiding and neutralized the threat they posed to the United States and its allies.
The president emphasized that the operation was carried out with precision, ensuring no civilian casualties.
The airstrike targeted a senior ISIS attack planner, who had been on the U.S. military’s radar for years.

Trump criticized the Biden administration for not acting sooner on the intelligence but vowed that the U.S. would continue to pursue any terrorist group that poses a threat to the nation.
“These killers, who we found hiding in caves, threatened the United States and our allies,” Trump said in his post. “The strikes destroyed the caves they lived in and killed many terrorists without, in any way, harming civilians.”
In a clear message to ISIS and others who target Americans, Trump stated, “We will find you, and we will kill you.”
The airstrike is a part of ongoing U.S. efforts to dismantle ISIS operations across the globe, as the terror group remains a serious threat despite previous defeats in other regions.
