Many Twitter users’ requests to remove devices from which a tweet was posted (whether Android or iPhone) have finally been granted.

On Sunday, December 18, 2022, Twitter’s new owner, billionaire Elon Musk, declared that his microblogging platform will no longer display the device from which a tweet was posted, whether it was an iPhone, an Android smartphone, or even Twitter Web.

He tweeted a Pubity tweet informing users of the same and tagging it “Hallelujah!!”

It will be recalled that some weeks back, Elon described the function as a “waste of screen space & compute” and that the company will “finally cease adding what device a tweet was made on,” while responding to a user’s tweet in November, he wrote, “And we will finally stop adding what device a tweet was written on (waste of screen space & compute) below every tweet. Literally no one even knows why we did that …”

Many users applaud the shift on the microblogging platform, which they regard as positive.

Twitter Support describing the ‘Tweet source labels‘ said “Tweet source labels help you better understand how a Tweet was posted. This additional information provides context about the Tweet and its author. If you don’t recognize the source, you may want to learn more to determine how much you trust the content.”
