Morgan, 23, died on December 28, 2024, after a brief but devastating battle with a rare heart condition called postpartum cardiomyopathy.

Morgan had welcomed her twins, son Hudson Samuel Hughes and daughter Georgia Elise Hughes, on December 19, 2024, alongside her husband, Samuel Craig Hughes.

The couple, married in 2023, was overjoyed to start their family together. But just days after the birth, Morgan began to feel unwell.

She experienced symptoms including vomiting and fainting, leading her to return to the hospital.

There, she was diagnosed with postpartum cardiomyopathy, a rare condition that occurs in the final month of pregnancy or shortly after delivery, causing heart failure.

Morgan’s father, Brian Hodson, shared with NBC News that the delivery had been smooth, and they were not prepared for the sudden turn of events.

“It’s been devastating. We certainly weren’t expecting this at all,” he said, describing the family’s shock at the loss.

Despite the tragic outcome, Samuel remains strong for their twins, who were born prematurely and remain in the NICU at Utah Valley Hospital.

Samuel visits them twice a day and finds solace in caring for his children. “The twins are where I feel my peace that she’s there. She is helping the twins,” he shared.

Morgan’s passion for motherhood was known by all who knew her. Her father described her as someone who had “always wanted to be a mom” and was known for her love of babies even from a young age.

She was affectionately called the “baby whisperer.”

A GoFundMe campaign set up by the Lone Peak Fire Association, where Brian is a captain, described Morgan as “a kind and loving soul whose greatest joy was becoming a mother.”

Though her life was tragically cut short, Morgan’s legacy as a devoted wife, mother, and loving person will continue to inspire those who knew her.
