The explosive stash was found during a routine search for an unregistered rifle, but what investigators uncovered was far more disturbing: more than 150 homemade improvised explosive devices (IEDs), primarily pipe bombs.

The explosives were hidden in various locations around Spafford’s home.

While most were found in a garage, a particularly chilling discovery was made in a backpack inside his bedroom, bearing a disturbing message: “#nolivesmatter.”

The FBI also found an extremely dangerous jar of HMTD, a volatile substance capable of exploding from minor friction or temperature changes, stored in Spafford’s freezer.

Labeled “dangerous” and “do not touch,” it was nestled alongside everyday food items, showing a blatant disregard for safety.

Authorities were also alarmed to find a notebook at Spafford’s residence, filled with “recipes” for explosives, including grenades, HMTD, and military-grade C-4.

These findings raised concerns about the suspect’s intent and his disturbing interest in violent acts.

Investigators revealed that Spafford had expressed support for political assassinations, and troubling images of President Joe Biden were reportedly used as targets during his shooting practice.

The investigation was sparked by a tip-off from an unnamed source who revealed that Spafford had lost three fingers while making explosives.

Despite the lack of a clear motive, authorities are concerned about the danger Spafford posed, not only to his local community but also to his family, which includes a wife and two children.

As this case unfolds, the FBI is continuing to investigate Spafford’s background and possible connections to dangerous ideologies.

His arrest has raised serious questions about the accessibility of explosives and the potential for homegrown threats.
