Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin got into a furious argument with Minister of Communications Ursula Owusu-Ekuful on Tuesday, November 28.
This resulted from the Trade Minister’s persistent attempts to introduce the controversial Import Restrictions Bill, which seeks to bestow upon the Trade Ministry the power to authorize or forbid the importation of a particular list of goods.

Nothing that was brought before the house, in her opinion, called for this level of opposition.
“I don’t know what we are discussing in this house right now. There is nothing on the agenda for the house, so I assumed that since you [the speaker of parliament] told the minister of trade, KT Hammond, that we are not there yet, you would also inform my colleagues on the opposing side of the same. stated Ursula.
The Speaker, not pleased with the state of affairs, reprimanded her and told her to go back to her seat. He warned her that going forward, the home would not accept such behavior.
“Minister, do you really listen to yourself when you are talking? If you were here from the very beginning before we started, why did you say no, when I asked if you were here from the beginning… This is not the Ministry of Communications, this is Parliament. Resume your seat.” The Speaker of Parliament retorted.
The video has since caused a stir on social media. Some people believe the Speaker was too harsh on Ursula Owusu while others praised him for putting her in her place.
