Woman Files Complaint Against Husband for Making Her Do Chores Instead of Spending Time on Instagram

In an unusual case from India, a woman filed a police complaint against her husband, alleging he interfered with her Instagram time by insisting she do housework. The bizarre dispute occurred in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and has stirred extensive debate both online and offline.

The woman, Nisha, 30, accused her husband, Vijendra, of damaging her internet reputation. According to her testimony, he advised her to spend less time on social media and focus more on home tasks like cleaning and washing dishes.

Nisha reportedly told police that she used to post at least two Instagram Reels daily and had built a modest online following. However, after Vijendra’s request, she became unable to maintain her content schedule, eventually losing two followers in one day. This prompted her to leave their home and move back with her parents in a neighboring village.

“My followers declined as I was kept busy washing utensils and cleaning the house by my husband. I didn’t get time to make Reels,” Nisha told police at the Women’s Police Station in Hapur District.

The police confirmed receiving the complaint and began an investigation into the matter. The case took another turn when Vijendra responded by filing his own complaint. He stated that Nisha was constantly on Instagram, neglecting her duties at home.

Officers then scheduled a therapy session for the couple to discuss the problem and foster marital harmony. Following a lengthy talk, the two reportedly agreed to sort out their problems and prioritize family life.

The session finished on a bright note, with both Nisha and Vijendra eager to give their relationship another opportunity. They went back to live together and began working to restore calm in their home.

However, the incident came with a cost. Vijendra apparently lost his job as a result of the complaint’s publicity and ensuing actions. He is now actively seeking employment to support the family.

This particular situation reflects the rising contradiction between digital lifestyles and traditional domestic duties. Balancing personal passions and family commitments can be difficult as social media becomes increasingly integrated into daily life, especially for content makers.

Authorities emphasized the need of communication and compromise in marriages, urging couples experiencing similar problems to seek treatment before things worsened.
