American Actor William Hurt Dead

Information gathered by Townflex.com has it that American Oscar-winning actor, William Hurt is dead.

Per reports, William McChord Hurt died on Sunday, March 13, 2022.

Hurt was born on March 20, 1950, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022, just 7 days (one week) to his 72nd birthday.

It would be recalled that back in the year 2018, it was made known that the actor was battling prostate cancer that spread to the bone, a health condition for which he has been receiving treatment.

The news regarding his death was confirmed by his son who goes by the name ‘Will’ in a post that he made available online.

According to the post, William Hurt died peacefully of natural causes and adding that the family is requesting privacy during this hard and trying time as they mourn their lost soul.

William’s son, Will wrote;

“It is with great sadness that the Hurt family mourns the passing of William Hurt, beloved father and Oscar-winning actor, on March 13, 2022, one week before his 72nd birthday. He died peacefully, among family, of natural causes. The family requests privacy at this time.”

He studied at the Juilliard School and began acting on stage in the 1970s, he however made his first (debut) film in 1980 as a troubled scientist in Ken Russell’s science-fiction feature Altered States, for which he received a Golden Globe nomination for New Star of the Year.

In 1981 he played a leading role, as a lawyer who succumbs to the temptations of a married woman played by Kathleen Turner, in the neo-noir Body Heat.

Hurt garnered three consecutive nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actor, for Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985), Children of a Lesser God (1986), and Broadcast News (1987), winning for the first of these.

Hurt remained an active stage actor throughout the 1980s, appearing in Off-Broadway productions including Henry VFifth of JulyRichard II, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Hurt received his first Tony Award nomination in 1985 for the Broadway production of Hurlyburly.
