Wiz Khalifa Faces Legal Trouble After Smoking Weed at Festival

American rapper Wiz Khalifa, known for his laid-back persona and love of cannabis, has been indicted in Romania for smoking weed during a performance at the Beach, Please! Festival this past summer.

The news broke on October 16, when the Constanța Tribunal announced that local authorities would pursue legal action against the Pittsburgh native, born Cameron Thomaz.

The incident occurred on July 13, when Khalifa, one of the festival’s headliners, sparked up a joint in front of a lively crowd.

Despite the warm reception from fans, the action drew the attention of local law enforcement, leading to his detention shortly after the performance.

He was later released, but the legal ramifications have now come to light.

According to reports from Romania-Insider, Khalifa could face a prison sentence ranging from three months to two years if convicted of illicit drug use.

The use of recreational marijuana remains illegal in Romania, despite the rapper’s international popularity and advocacy for cannabis legalization in the United States.

Romanian police stated that investigations revealed Khalifa possessed over 18 grams of cannabis during the concert, classifying it as a “risk drug.”

They also noted that he consumed another quantity of cannabis while on stage, further complicating his legal situation.
