A tragic scene unfolded at the upscale Shou Sugi Ban House in Water Mill, New York, where 33-year-old Sabina Rosas was found dead, leading to a homicide investigation by the Suffolk County Police Department.
Rosas, a Brooklyn resident, was discovered by a staff member in a guest room at the luxury resort on Monday, October 28.

Emergency services were alerted around 12:30 p.m., and police quickly determined that Rosas was a “victim of violence.”
In a statement, the Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad indicated that they are treating this case as a targeted attack, assuring the public that it appears to be an isolated incident.
“There is no immediate danger to the public at this time,” a Southampton police representative noted.
As of now, the cause of death remains undetermined while authorities await an autopsy report from the medical examiner’s office.
The incident has raised concerns within the community, especially given the tranquil reputation of the Hamptons, known for its luxurious retreats and serene atmosphere.
The Shou Sugi Ban House, celebrated for its expansive three-acre woodland setting, opened in 2019 as the Hamptons’ first dedicated destination spa.
It offers a range of healing arts and therapies aimed at wellness and relaxation, making this tragic event particularly shocking for those familiar with the establishment.

Investigators are urging anyone with information related to Rosas’ death to come forward. The spa has not yet released a public statement regarding the incident.
