Woman’s Mummified Body Found After 14 Years in Costa del Sol Apartment

In a chilling discovery, the mummified body of a woman has been found in an apartment on Spain’s Costa del Sol, where she is believed to have died 14 years ago.

The body was found by a squatter and his 11-year-old daughter who had broken into the flat in Malaga, not expecting to stumble upon such a grisly scene.

According to reports from Mail Online, the pair fled the apartment immediately after discovering the remains, alerting neighbors to the shocking find.

Police sources confirmed that the body had reached the stage of skeletonization, where the soft tissues of the corpse had decayed or dried up, leaving only the skeleton exposed.

Initial forensic tests suggest the woman likely passed away approximately 14 years ago. Investigators suspect she may have been a Spanish woman, around 85 years old, who died shortly after the loss of her husband.

However, her identity remains unconfirmed as authorities continue to search for her relatives.

The apartment block where the woman’s body was discovered is known for having a high turnover of residents, which may have contributed to the body’s long undetected presence.

Police believe the open windows in the flat might have helped mask the smell of the decomposing corpse, allowing it to go unnoticed for years.
