Authorities in England have charged a 13-year-old girl with the brutal murder of Marta Bednarczyk, a 43-year-old mother of three, in a shocking case that has sent ripples through the Wellingborough community.
On March 10, Bednarczyk was discovered with multiple stab wounds to her face, neck, and back following a house fire in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at approximately 3:30 a.m. The gruesome details were disclosed during an inquest at Northampton Coroner’s Court, where it was confirmed that her cause of death was sharp force trauma.
The teenager, who cannot be named due to legal restrictions, has been charged with murder and arson with intent to endanger life. Authorities reported that the child remains in youth detention and has yet to enter a plea. A provisional trial is scheduled for November before a High Court judge.
The accused first appeared in court on March 12, just days after her arrest. According to reports, the young girl was seen clutching a teddy bear during the hearing.
The investigation began after authorities responded to reports of a house fire in the early hours of March 10. Upon gaining access to the property, officers discovered Bednarczyk’s lifeless body. A forensic post-mortem examination later determined her preliminary cause of death to be sharp force injuries.

In a heartfelt statement, Bednarczyk’s family expressed their deep grief: “Marta was the matriarch of our family. She was a very caring woman, a loving mother, and a supportive friend who could never do enough for those she loved.”
Originally from Poland, Bednarczyk had moved to the United Kingdom in 2012 to build a better future for her family. She worked in a warehouse to support her loved ones, including her three children and her fiancé, Eugene.
“She was so loved by all of us, and the tragic circumstances in which she died will haunt us forever. We are heartbroken at the thought of never seeing our lovely Marta again. She will be missed beyond words, and she will never be forgotten,” the statement concluded.
The coroner, Anne Pember, confirmed that further forensic tests are pending and that Bednarczyk’s body has not yet been released to her family. The next inquest hearing is set for October 8.
