2 Army Black Hawk helicopters crash near Utah ski resort [Video]

Information gathered by Townflex has it that 2 Army Black Hawk Helicopters on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, crashed near the Mineral Basin area in Utah, USA during a National Guard training exercise.

The two helicopters belonging to the Utah National Guard according to major news sources crashed at about 9:30 a.m in the morning.

The accident involving a pair of UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters was damaged and the incident as per reports.

But the good news in this accident is that all persons on board were safe and that no injuries were reported according to the chief warrant officer 5 with the Utah National Guard, Jared Jones.

Jared Jones, who was speaking in a press conference regarding the helicopter crash said the two helicopters were attempting to land in an approved training area about 150 yards away from the Snowbird’s boundaries but as they landed, the snow kicked up and aircraft probably lost sight on the ground causing the blad of one strucking the other one and causing damages

“As they landed, the snow kicked up and the aircraft probably lost sight of the ground, we know there were portions of the rotor blade that separated from the helicopter and struck the second helicopter.”

“The second helicopter, after being hit by pieces of the first helicopter, was able to make a quick landing at that point.”

“It was a blessing that everyone was okay,” Jones said.

Little Cottonwood Canyon National Guard officials said that quick reaction and training helped prevent anyone from being injured after two Blackhawk helicopters were involved in an accident

“We can confirm that two Utah National Guard UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters were involved in a training accident at approx. 9:30 a.m. near Mineral Basin. No crew members were injured in the accident. Both UH-60s were damaged. The incident is under investigation,” the Utah National Guard tweeted.

The incident is however under investigation, and also the Utah National Guard has canceled training flights after the Tuesday crash pending a safety review.
