Dr. Tonderai Chiwawa, a Bindura District Medical Officer, has become the center of a social media storm after reportedly offering his ex-girlfriend, Karen Tandanguni, two goats as compensation following their breakup.
The controversial move has sparked heated discussions, with many questioning the doctor’s actions.
Karen, 25, has taken the matter to a traditional court, accusing Dr. Chiwawa of offering the goats as a way to settle the end of their relationship.
The two had been involved since November 2022, with Dr. Chiwawa allegedly promising marriage and even introducing Karen to some of his relatives.
However, Karen later became concerned when some of his family members warned her about his history of three marriages and multiple children.

After their breakup, Karen rejected the goats as compensation, finding the gesture deeply insulting.
“I couldn’t believe it. He thought two goats could make up for the pain,” she said.
The situation escalated further when Karen accused Dr. Chiwawa of pressuring her to terminate her pregnancy and threatening her when she refused. “I also fear for my life because he said he is prepared to harm me if I keep the child,” she stated.
Karen reported the matter to Bindura Police, also filing a complaint after her phone, which contained incriminating messages, was stolen.
The case is now set to be heard before Chief Masembura on January 19.
Dr. Chiwawa, however, denies the allegations, claiming that he only knows Karen from the neighborhood and dismissing her accusations as an attempt to tarnish his reputation.
“She just wants to tarnish my image,” he said.
