Georgia Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Bombing Woman’s Home and Deadly Plot

A Georgia man, Stephen Glosser, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges related to planting a bomb at a woman’s home, with an alleged plan to kill, intimidate, harass, or injure her.

Glosser, 38, was also ordered to pay $507,781 in restitution after pleading guilty to stalking and the use of explosives to commit another felony offense.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Georgia, the case involved a series of disturbing actions.

Glosser and his alleged co-conspirator, Caleb Kinsey, planned to shoot arrows into the victim’s front door, release a large python to harm the victim’s daughter, mail rats and dog feces to the home, and eventually detonate an improvised explosive device (IED) at the property.

Glosser’s bomb was planted at the victim’s residence in Richmond Hill, Georgia, and exploded in the early hours of January 13, 2023.

Fortunately, the woman and her child, who had only moved into the home the day before, were unharmed, having managed to escape the blast.

The victim reportedly had a prior relationship with one of the suspects.

After the explosion, Glosser and Kinsey were arrested in February 2023.

Authorities discovered that the two men had used exploding targets purchased online to construct the bomb, and that Glosser had hired a cleaning service to erase evidence of bomb-making materials from his residence.

The case has drawn widespread attention due to the extreme nature of the plot. Acting U.S. Attorney Tara Lyons expressed her relief that no deaths occurred, calling the violence “astounding.”

She also commended the collaborative efforts of law enforcement in bringing the case to justice.

Glosser was sentenced in federal court, where he was informed that he would not be eligible for parole. His co-conspirator, Caleb Kinsey, is awaiting prosecution.
