Born Margaret Doe-Kortsi in Ave-Dakpa, a village in Ghana’s Volta Region, Megx has set her sights on creating music that inspires and empowers. Her rich storytelling and distinctive voice make her a rising star in the Afro Soul scene.
From a Small Village to the Big Stage
Megx’s journey began in the church, where she sang in Sunday school choirs before joining an acapella group at Awudome Senior High School in Tsito. She initially hesitated to write music, but she soon realized that her struggles could transform into powerful lyrics.
Determined to pursue her passion, she moved to Greater Accra in 2016, juggling night school with her love for music. During Ghana’s COVID-19 lockdown, a church member recognized her talent and encouraged her to take her music seriously. That moment changed her career trajectory.
A Sound That Resonates
Megx’s music draws from her personal experiences, tackling themes of love, heartbreak, resilience, and self-worth. Growing up with four siblings and 14 half-siblings, she gained a deep understanding of human emotions, which she now channels into her songs.
Her debut single, “Fiesta,” tells the story of loving someone who fails to appreciate you. With a fusion of Afrobeats’ energy and Afro Soul’s depth, the song speaks to anyone seeking self-love and empowerment.
Empowering Artists Beyond Music
In addition to her music career, Megx studies Public Relations with Marketing at Ghana’s University of Media, Arts, and Communication (UniMAC). She actively advocates for artists’ rights, copyright protection, and fair creative practices.
