President Donald Trump is privately considering whether to grant clemency to Sean “Diddy” Combs, according to a new report from CBS. The report says Trump was scheduled to review multiple pardon recommendations with advisers on Friday, July 3, although sources told the broadcaster that Combs was not expected to appear on the official list prepared by the pardons team.
The reported development comes as Combs continues serving a 50-month federal prison sentence and after his projected release date was recently moved forward for the third time in four months.
Representatives for Combs have denied having any discussions with the White House about a possible pardon.
Federal Bureau of Prisons records now list Combs’ expected release date as February 23, 2028. That marks another reduction in his sentence timeline. He had previously been scheduled for release on April 15, 2028, after earlier dates of April 25, June 4, and, before those adjustments, May 8, 2028.
Combs has remained in federal custody since his arrest in September 2024. Before sentencing, he spent about a year at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center after being denied bail. He is now incarcerated at the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution, a low-security federal prison in New Jersey.
A federal jury in New York convicted Combs on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution following a closely watched trial. Jurors acquitted him of more serious charges, including s*x trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, offenses that could have carried a life sentence.
On Oct. 3, 2025, the court sentenced Combs to 50 months in prison, imposed a $500,000 fine, and ordered five years of supervised release following the completion of his prison term.
Federal prosecutors had argued that Combs deserved a prison sentence exceeding 10 years. According to the indictment, they alleged he led a criminal enterprise that “abused, threatened, and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct.” Combs pleaded not guilty throughout the case and has denied the allegations.

Defense attorneys sought a substantially shorter sentence of no more than 14 months, arguing that the jury’s verdict partially favored their client after acquitting him on the most serious charges.
His legal team also asked the court to recommend placement at Fort Dix, pointing to the facility’s rehabilitation services and location near family members.
“In order to address drug abuse issues and to maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts, we request that the court strongly recommend to the Bureau of Prisons that Mr. Combs be placed at FCI Fort Dix,” his attorney, Teny Geragos, wrote in an October 2025 court filing.
Combs has since entered a federal drug rehabilitation program. His representatives said he has remained committed to treatment while serving his sentence.
“Mr. Combs is an active participant in the Residential Drug Abuse Program and has taken his rehabilitation process seriously from the start,” a rep for the rapper told Page Six in April.
CBS’s report has not been accompanied by any public confirmation from the White House. For now, any decision on presidential clemency remains under consideration and no pardon has been announced.
