His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the president of Sri Lanka finally bows to pressure as he sends his resignation letter to the Speaker of Parliament.

Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa fleed from his country after mass protests over his rule, and also on economic hardship leaving protesters to take charge of the presidential house which we posted some days ago in a publication Here.

According to multiple reports, Gotabaya Rajapaksa after fleeing his country successfully landed in Singapore, he arrived on Wednesday.

His arrival in Singapore was however confirmed by Singapore’s government which released a statement saying he is here on a visit while addressing runours that Gotabaya arrived in their country to seek asylum.

It is not yet known where his next destination from Singapore will be or if he will be staying there or be moving to another place.

After Fleeing from the Country on Tuesday in a military plane, he promised to sign his resignation letter on Wednesday but failed to do so on the said day.

According to new piece of information, it shows he has finally sent his resignation which confirms that he is stepping down as the president of the country.

Sri Lanka President Gotabaya Rajapaksa emailed a letter of resignation to the Parliament Speaker late on Thursday a source told Reuters.

Sri Lankans have been for some time now going through difficult times, financially as prices of food commodities alongside fuel and other basic supplies rose up almost the similar condition faced by Ghanaians.

Rajapaksa won the elections in 2019 he became the 8th President of Sri Lanka after getting signed into office on 18 November 2019, and now he has stepped down, the date for him stepping down is on 14 July 2022.

The question being asked by many is this, would be returning back to his home country Sri Lanka?
